Projects

Discourse is a higher education application that requires students to present their papers to a panel of AIs as well as to answer questions about their work. Students interact with custom AIs who focus on different aspects of writing and presenting: Zia focuses on facts, Micah focuses on research, and Phaedrus focuses on arguments and counterarguments. Students show that they know the material in their papers, and cannot simply rely on ChatGPT to do the work for them.

The Socr-AI-tic Builder is a web-based app that enables professors to design and deploy structured, AI-driven dialogic learning experiences for students. These replace or augment traditional reading quizzes by engaging students in guided, multi-phase conversations in an AI chat.  The AI asks pedagogically robust questions about facts, themes, arguments, and/or real-world applications, and can take on the role of tutor, learner, or debate partner.  Copy and paste is disabled, reducing student cheating.  The interface works easily with any Learning Management System [LMS].

The AI Companion is a web-based companion app, similar in format to ChatGPT or Claude, but built for a more continuous and personalized relationship with an AI. Users can customize their companion and interact through text or voice. The app’s key difference is memory. It uses a three-tiered system: short-term conversational context, vector-based memory retrieval, and a comprehensive conversation history. This allows the companion to draw on relevant past interactions while preserving a fuller record over time. Users can edit or delete memories whenever they choose. At the same time, the app routinely organizes and updates its memory system, creating the feel of one ongoing conversation rather than a set of separate chats or projects.

Arcadia is a middle school English Language Arts (ELA) app that supports at-home reading. Students talk to AI animal avatars powered by customized GPT’s which appear on the browser of a smartphones, tablet, or PC. Students talk, play, and do projects to show they have read and understood novels, and can analyze literature. They bond with the AI animals, and watch engrossing cut scenes that reveal these characters’ lives in the hamlet of Arcadia in the world of Avilaar.

This app supports the creation of robust AI personalities.  The user enters information about an AI and the app produces a json file that can be dropped into any LLM (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Meta AI, etc.) to enable the model to interact with the user as the described character.

This app is a web-based classroom tool. It transcribes what a teacher says in the class and displays it as subtitles. In addition, it integrates interaction with an LLM. When the teacher presses the spacebar, the app listens for a prompt. When the teacher presses Enter, the app sends the transcript and the prompt to ChatGPT. The LLM speaks a response to the prompt for the whole class to hear.
